Information

Ioannina is one of the four cities in Epirus and  the capital of the prefecture. This busy and friendly town lies in the middle of agricultural plains, with cereal and tobacco crops.

The city is fascinating, ideal for vacation throughout the year. Ioannina has everything: important archaeological sights, a lake with a small island in the middle, mountains, intense nightlife and an exquisite traditional cuisine.  In winter, the area is usually covered with snow. In spring and summer the lake is ideal for boat trips and visits to the island. The Island in Pamvotida Lake is a famous landmark in the city that offers accommodation, nice restaurants and nightlife. The Cave of Perama is also an interesting sight and one of the most important caves in Greece. The archaeological sight of Dodoni is also one of the oldest Sanctuaries of Ancient Greece. The mountainous highlight  is Zagorohoria, a group of 46 villages on the mountain slopes. The Gorge of Vikos is of unique beauty, too. Other popular towns are Metsovo and Konitsa.
